Hello Everyone! Last week I began my research into the requirements for changing a motorcycle tire. This week, I used the knowledge gained so far and looked into the various tools I will need to complete the work. It turns out there are many different tools to do the job. Some are basic, and some are more advanced. The price for the tools fluctuates accordingly as well. Tools that make the work much more easy are much more expensive. The photo below shows the tools that I have acquired to help me with my genius hour project. Match the font colour in the description below with the coloured dots for an explanation of what each tool can do.

Bead Breaker Tools - These tools are positioned between the tire and rim and use leverage to break the tire bead separating the tire wall from the rim.

Tire Spoons - These tools are used to fold the tire wall around the tire rim for tire removal.

Tire Valve Removal Tool - This tool removes the valve stem from the tire tube to allow all of the air to escape the tube.

Bead Buddy - This tool rests between the tire rim and tire wall, and locks onto a rim spoke. This tool ensures that once the tire bead is broken, it stays that way.

Rim Protectors - These plastic tools are placed over the edge of the tire rim to protect the rim from damage when using the tire spoons to fold the tire wall over the rim.

Bike Master Swingarm Stand - This tool works in conjunction with the motorcycle kick stand to lift the rear tire off of the ground. This tool can be used when a center stand is not installed on the bike. Once the tire is off the ground, it can be removed from the motorcycle before replacing the tire and tube.

I have now removed the rear tire from my motorcycle and brought the tire indoors to warm up. I learned that if the tire is cold, it will be less pliable and very difficult to remove. I hope by next week the tire will be nice and toasty warm for removal!
